Souji (Kyoryuger)/Fuuka (Ninninger): Always Be Here

Even when everything seems hopeless for both of us, never forget that I'll always be there when you need me... ~ Florence Joyce

Things had settled in -- at least for a little. But Fuuka was aware that the danger of that monster that attacked her and the other Super Sentai members was still there. They knew they had to do something to put a stop to it once and for all. However, there had been some problems.

Nishiori Sakura, a member of the Boukenger as Bouken Pink, informed her and Souji that it wasn't just one monster who made it an agenda to take down Super Sentai members. It turned out that there were five of them. By far, they've encountered two of them.

At the moment, Fuuka was outside the room inside the Yuuzuki mansion where she was staying at in the meantime as she was trying to recover. Her injuries didn't hurt that much anymore, but Souji suggested that she should continue resting just to make sure her injuries would heal properly. Not that she should do more to actually help anyone in her situation at the moment.

It was a good thing that Amy was informing her of her brother and cousins' welfare as they, too, were injured. They also needed to recover from the ordeal to make sure they were strong enough to deal with those monsters once again.

"You're supposed to be resting inside the mansion, Fuuka. What are you doing here?"

Fuuka turned to the source of that familiar voice after recovering from getting startled. She couldn't help smiling at the sight of Souji approaching her on the bench that she was sitting at.

"I also need to move every now and then, you know. I can't help feeling a little stuffed while inside the mansion. Amy-san allowed me, as long as I don't get out of the property in the meantime."

She saw Souji sigh and scratch the back of his head before sitting beside her on that bench.

"What about you?" Fuuka asked after a short while. "The monster didn't hurt you that time, right?"

He shook his head and looked at her. "Don't worry about me. I wasn't hurt at all. I couldn't afford to get hurt when I know in myself that I have to get you out of there."

At this point, Fuuka anticipated the fast beating of her heart as his words fully registered in her mind. Then again, there was nothing strange with his words, right? He was just concerned about her well-being. Even though it was just a short meeting, it appeared that it stayed with them to treasure in some way.

She couldn't help smiling as she kept on looking at his rather distraught and worn-out figure. But she was aware that it was just the piled-up stress, especially knowing that they had to fight that said monster again.

"Thank you for saving me back there. I really appreciate it," she said eventually, making Souji face her in surprise. But it was just for a short while.

Soon after, Souji smiled shyly as he scratched the back of his neck. She couldn't help recalling that he did the same thing when they first met.

"By the way, are there any of your friends who were hurt and targeted, as well?" Fuuka asked, her way of breaking off the almost awkward air between them because of the shy smiles.

Souji nodded and cleared his throat. "Ian and Ucchi were the ones who took the worst damage out of all the Kyoryugers. But they're out of the danger now. Just like you, they're finally recovering."

Once again, silence surrounded the two of them after that. Not that they didn't know what to say. But it seemed that both of them just wanted to relish the silence between them. It had been a while since she had this kind of comforting silence, even as it was just for herself. The path she chose as a defender of the world wasn't that easy. To enjoy something like this once in a while wasn't all that bad.

Especially if she had a companion as amazing as the man beside her at the moment.

"Do your best to recover from your injuries. And when you do, then we'll do what we can to finally put an end to those monsters terrorizing our comrades fighting to protect the world," Souji said not long after. He looked at her with a determined expression on his face and a smile appeared eventually.

It also made Fuuka smile at him and nodded. "I'll try not to make you worry so much," she joked and chuckled right after. "We can do it together."

I know it's been a while. And the only explanation I can give is because I was focusing on writing other stories. Mainly the Taglish (Tagalog-English) ones that I've posted on Dreame. As for this one-shot, I would say that this was the continuation of the 2nd Souji/Fuuka one-shot (titled "If That's The Only Way") posted on the 1st volume. I did decide before that I would write a continuation of that one-shot. So here it is! Enjoy reading!
