Hyde/Eri (Goseiger): The Longing Remains

As the night wind howls, the longing I had in my heart remains. Hoping that it'll reach you, wherever you are right now... ~ Florence Joyce

They've all chosen different paths in order to grow and learn even more after the last battle. Of course, it was sad that they had to be separated when, for a long time, they managed to work and stay together in order to protect the world. But they chose to do this.

For their sakes as still learning Gosei Angels.

But at times, for Eri, she couldn't help yearning for those wonderful times that she was with her friends. After all her appointments with her patients and she was left alone, her mind would always be directed to those parts of her memories. She was smiling in nostalgia as she would do so. And yet, even with that, something still felt off.

That was when she would take out her Change Card and look at it longer than she would have to. But aside from that, she would also take out one other card that hadn't left her side since the separation.

A Presshower Card.

Okay. Normally, a Skick Tribe member would never have a card that belonged to the Seaick Tribe. But in this case, it was a bit special.

"Does he even think about me?" Eri couldn't help muttering as she would look at that card and even caress it with her thumb at some point.

But there was no use thinking about it that way. Having that Presshower Card held more than just the image of the one who owned it, but also a promise that she and Hyde made before they chose to take different paths.

"I just have to believe that one day, some time soon, it would come true, huh?"

When those words came out of her mouth, Eri looked at the sky and smiled. She closed her eyes and felt the soft breeze that blew forth. And yet, for some reason, her heart thumped faster just by doing that. Yes, it was just a breeze. But to her, they felt like a gentle caress ― and it was a familiar feeling.

Her tears fell before she knew it.

"I miss you..."

On the other hand, Hyde had just finished writing down notes with regards to his research when he decided to step outside of the room to breathe in some fresh air for a while. Getting cooped up in a room for quite a while was seriously making it sort of frustrating for him, for some reason.

Or should he actually call it frustration, when there was nothing to even frustrate about?

Hyde could only shake his head to shrug off whatever thoughts were bothering him at the moment. Something was definitely wrong with him. He just had to figure out what.

Once outside, he felt a sense of calmness washing over him. And if he had to be honest, it felt weird to feel something like that. But one look at the sky, and he finally understood the reason why. Before he could even stop himself, he took out a Gosei Card that was in his pocket almost every day.

A Windrive Card.

A card that belonged to the Skick Tribe.

Hyde smiled as soon as he recalled the reason why he had that kind of Gosei Card in his possession. But that smile both looked sad and nostalgic at the same time. He didn't know if it was right to even feel something like that. Even with that, he was willing to admit one thing.

"I wish I could see you right now, Eri..." he uttered, his voice was laced with longing.

But that wish wasn't something he could easily fulfill at the moment. They made a promise, and they chose to separate for the meantime. Yet it doesn't mean he stopped thinking about her.

"One day... I just have to believe that we will be together again..."

Looking up to the sky, Hyde closed his eyes. And by doing this, he heard something that only increased that longing he had carefully hidden in his heart all this time. Along with that, he chose to hold on to his faith that his wish would one day come true.

"I miss you, too... All this time..."

After a long time, I finally added something here. So this is my first Hyde/Eri fanfic and it took me a while to think on how to write this. Let's see what other pairs that I'd be writing for the first time will I feature here next.

Tell me what you think about this one. Enjoy reading!
