During the mid-Joseon dynasty, a mysterious phenomenon occurred wherein various places in ancient Korea were covered in "black smoke that accumulates a person like clouds". Once a human being was covered in this black cloud, his mind would be twisted in such a way that it makes him into a superhuman whose only goal was to satisfy his thirst for blood.
Only one group of people was able to counter this. Though in various legends, they were only known as "Power Casters". Not much was known about them, except for the fact that their population dominated two countries in East Asia--which was South Korea and Japan. And both groups of Power Casters were tasked to deal with anything related to the Black Cloud Phenomenon. It also appeared that they've been doing this for 10,000 years since their arrival on Earth from a place called the Cloud Dimension.
The phenomenon continued until modern times. Now, Power Caster agents of SK-Nephelus Agency must come together and protect the country of South Korea from those affected by the black cloud. The agency was led by Ra Ji-Tae (라지태) who personally handpicked and recruited the agents who will pursue the operation to end the Black Cloud Phenomenon.
In one of Ra Ji-Tae's journeys, he decided to create a special team whom he knew would help him proceed with the operation of eliminating the root of the problem--the boss of the Black Cloud Vessels. Along the way, he was able to recruit the traveler-blogger Elena Grace Chon/Chon Rena (촌레나), car racer Nae Hyon-Jun(내횬준), solo pop idol Ryu Ji-Hun (류지훈), novelist Nang Ye-Seul (랑예슬), skater and actress Hung Ae-Ri (훙애리), and mechanic-in-training Won Jae-Hwa (원재화). These six soon formed the special team that was to be known as the Cloudbreakers.
But in the long run of this special team's task to protect everyone, they began questioning Ji-Tae's intentions and true motives in eliminating the Black Cloud Vessels. What exactly was Ji-Tae's purpose in selecting them to become Cloudbreakers? Most of all, how will they be able to end the Black Cloud Phenomena if they don't even know who in the world were they dealing with? If one would still add the issues of Power Casters' factions in constant disagreement with each other, could they end the mission?
"Until he comes back. And I know it won't be that long."
Asuna kept on replying the same way to the same question that her friends would ask her over and over. It was crazy that she had to do it again and again. But her friends could seriously be annoying and persistent most of the time. Even if she had to use her strength just to make them shut up, it doesn't work. And so she decided to learn how to hold in her temper and annoyance over getting asked the same issue using the same question.
"But you've been waiting here for three years now. Still, no words from him. Won't you ever stop?" Koh asked as he sat beside Asuna.
